RAINY FREEWAY
Comet tails reflecting;
Double stars approaching fast.
Lives pass in the mist.
Is dinner waiting?
Has a life together died?
Steel-capsuled dramas.
BARRIERS
She sits on her porch
Waiting with her magazines
For someone to come.
He scratches his head,
Folds his paper and looks out.
Maybe if ... I Nope.
STRAW DREAMS
She helped me be free.
We wandered the Yellow Road
Sharing hope and fear.
Wanting what we had.
" Think I'll miss you most of all."
Can a Straw Man cry?
FOUND BOOK
Musty, familiar,
Heavy cover, cracked pages.
Childhood waits inside.
Gently turn a page.
Pencil marks in a margin;
Memory returns.
ABANDONED
There is no welcome;
Windows let in night winds.
Blackberries move in.
Papered walls grow damp.
Wood emerges, freed of paint.
Memories are gone.
NIGHT RIDE
My shadowy face
Is like a ghost in the glass;
The night lights shine through.
Here and there a light
Frames a life in a window,
And a face looks back.
TENDER TOUCH
His hands hold such love,
Yet they are kept from others;
Given to his dog.
His words are whispered
Into loyal canine ears;
Not those who need them.
RAINY CORNER
Silver light, rain streaked,
Mottles hands and empty page.
Words are hard to find.
Can security
In a cozy corner chair
Bring words to touch her?
